(and Why It Matters for Your Business in 2026)

Good morning FWI crew,

There’s a famous story about legendary coach Vince Lombardi.

At the start of every season, he would stand in front of his Green Bay Packers, hold up a football, and say:

“Gentlemen… this is a football.”

Not because they were rookies.
Not because they lacked talent.
But because he knew something most people forget:

Greatness leaks when basics get sloppy.

Championships aren’t built on complexity.
They’re built on mastery of the basics.

And business is no different.

As we head into 2026, most entrepreneurs don’t need a new strategy.
They need to execute the fundamentals better.

So let’s start with one.

Fundamental #1: Can people instantly understand what you do?

If someone can’t explain you… they won’t choose you.

Clarity isn’t optional anymore.
You don’t get paid for being clever.
You get paid for being clear.

If people are confused, they’re gone.

And I’ll be honest with you…

Heck, sometimes when you’re sharing your business ideas, opportunities, and challenges on our calls — while I’m nodding along — I’m not always 100% sure what you actually do.

If someone asked me, “So what does ___ do?” I want it to be crystal clear in my mind.

Not fuzzy.
Not complicated.
Not a paragraph.

One clean sentence.

Let’s fix that.

Simple question:

Could a stranger understand what you do in one sentence?

If not, that’s not a branding issue.
That’s a business issue.
