SMALL BALL FOR BUSINESS 🥎

Let’s be honest. Power hitters, whether in baseball, politics or business, are sexy. They grab attention and headlines.

Me? I’m a singles hitter. I sometimes steal a base or two, lay down a bunt and draw a walk here and there. I haven’t hit too many home runs in my business ventures. I’ve struck out plenty. But, I keep getting up off the bench and enter the batter’s box each day attempting to advance my vision and plan and meet my customer’s/client’s needs.

A small baller might not make national news or even the local paper, but they can make a difference, inning by inning, day by day. Deliberately. Methodically.

DON’T BE IMPRESSIVE. BE CONSISTENT

Small ball certainly can work in business and life, but you need to step up to the plate EVERY. SINGLE. DAY.

• Set your alarm

• Send the email

• Rip up the paper, try again

• Ask for that referral

• Give yourself grace

• Ask for feedback

• Celebrate wins

GO DOWN SWINGING 🌪

Reigning 2022 MVP, Aaron Judge, who set the all-time record for home runs in a season (62) began where he left off by homering in his first at bat of 2023. How? He swung the bat! And the bat hit the ball. And it went really, really far.

So, get the bat off your shoulder (e.g. stop watching one more video, ordering one more book, taking one more course, researching one more strategy) and just take a swing. You might miss, you might connect. But one thing is for certain, you’ll learn from it and apply that knowledge with the next pitch.
