NAH, I’M GOOD 🙂

I was at the mall yesterday and walked past a number of people at kiosks hoping to sell me their products. I kindly said, “No thanks” and moved along.

They didn’t chase me down. They didn’t close up shop. They weren’t discouraged. And, why not? Because behind me were 400 other potential customers coming down the aisle, and these sales folks were confident they’d seal a deal with a few of them who actually wanted or needed their product.

It was nothing personal, I just wasn’t their customer on this day.

My son, Robbie, is a Mid-Market Account Executive. He shared with me that he gets rejected at least 20 times a day. Oof. He could get paralyzed with fear, frustration or insecurity, but he got over those hurdles long ago. He just keeps smilin’ and dialin’.

‘Cuz he knows, it’s nothing personal.

A DIFFERENT PERSPECTIVE 🧐

There are people who want your product or service, and many others who do not. Stop worrying about those who don’t, become fixated on those who DO!

• How can you better market to them?

• What messaging do you need to change?

• Are you solving a problem with your product?

• Where are your customers hanging out?

• Is your pricing in line with the value?

• Are you selling each day somehow?

I know that we as creatives get all up in our head about sales. But, truth is, we’re not just selling, we’re serving. We’re offering our products and services so that others will enjoy life more. So, I say we phrase it this way…

Serve it, and serve it HARD!
