ACTION vs. MOTION 🌪
While these terms sound very similar, they are not the same. And, if you’re not careful, busyness can take over your business. Let me explain …
In his book, Atomic Habits, James Clear writes, “If motion doesn’t lead to results, why do we do it? Sometimes we do it because we actually need to plan or learn more. But more often than not, we do it because motion allows us to feel like we’re making progress without running the risk of failure. Most of us are experts at avoiding criticism. It doesn’t feel good to fail or to be judged publicly, so we tend to avoid situations where that might happen. And that’s the biggest reason why you slip into motion rather than taking action: you want to delay failure.”
Oof.
Activity is seductive. If not careful, we can be easily lured into the thought and the feeling that our activity is enough. It’s not.
If there’s no outcome, there’s no income. 💣
ON THE ROAD TO NOWHERE 🧐
People fail at building a business because they're doing fake work.
Justin Welsh refers to this as "Rocking Horse Syndrome" … it feels like you're moving forward, but in reality, you're going nowhere.
Examples:
Designing logos
Redoing your website
Reading about business
Listening to another podcast
Constantly testing technology
Anything but generating revenue!

PLANNING vs. PRODUCING 📈
We tend to get stuck in the planning phase. Paralysis by analysis.
Here are 3 tasks that will produce results this week:
Set a goal of acquiring ONE new client/customer/sale in the next 7 days.
Determine the action steps you will take to make that happen, then schedule them in your phone with repeating reminders.
