As a creator and entrepreneur, you wear lots of hats to grow your business. But when you start stacking the hats, they’re certain to come crashing down. Believe me, I know it can get overwhelming, especially as a solopreneur. That's when hiring help can be a game-changer. Is it time for you to do so? Maybe.

DON’T BE A DONKEY 🫏

Perhaps you've come across this tale: Buridan's donkey finds itself stuck between a stack of hay and a pail of water, unable to choose between the two. Paralyzed by indecision, it gazes from side to side until it dies of hunger and thirst, unable to make a choice.

Many of our good ideas and intentions often fade away without seeing the light of day. It's not due to a lack of desire to make them happen, but rather a shortage of the necessary talent or time to bring them to life.

I've experienced this firsthand, and still do sometimes. However, one thing I've learned is that when I bring on someone with the skills and availability needed, my dreams and aspirations come to fruition much quicker and in ways I couldn't have imagined.

Just think if you had a copywriter at your disposal. Or a social media manager. Perhaps a marketing maven or a website developer. Imagine what a salesperson or accountant could mean for your business.

Deep breath … ahhhh. Ok, let's break it down into simple steps:

🙋‍♀️ Recognize When You Need Help: If you're feeling overwhelmed or missing deadlines, it's time to consider getting extra support.

🤔 Figure Out What You Need: Look at your workload and see where you could use some help, like with emails, talking to customers, or promoting your business.

🔎 Find the Right Person: Look for someone with the skills and experience you need, who also fits in with your company's vibe. Interview them, check their resume, and ask for references.

👍 Delegate Well: Once you've hired someone, tell them exactly what you need and give them the tools to do the job. Trust them to handle it, but be there to help if they need it.

🎢 Deal with Challenges: Hiring help can have its problems, like misunderstandings or disagreements. Talk openly about these issues and try to solve them together.

🥳 Celebrate Your Wins: Don't forget to pat yourself on the back for taking this big step. And don't forget to thank your team for their hard work!

This is where the ol’ adage “You need to spend money to make money” really shows its true colors. In the end, hiring help can be a big step for your business; by knowing when you need it, figuring out what you need, finding the right person, delegating well, handling challenges, and celebrating success, you can build a strong team that helps your business grow.
