📡 "Mayday! Mayday!"

Hitting the Business Reset Button

MAY ALREADY? HOW WE DOIN?

May Day is fun! 💐 Mayday is not. 😱

The term “Mayday” is a universal distress signal, commonly used by aircraft and boats on the radio. Heck, even SpongeBob uses it.

If you’re feeling some distress regarding your business (and life), it’s perhaps time to hit the Reset Button. The 1st of the month feels like a natural place to do so.

YOUR LIFE, YOUR RULES

For a long time, the notion of hitting the reset button in my life seemed sorta terrifying. Whenever I heard someone talk about needing a reset, it was usually in the context of something negative — a failure, burnout, or relationship breakdown. I had come to equate hitting reset with failure.

However, over time, I came to realize that everyone (including those I really admire) experienced moments when hitting the reset button was necessary. It's a normal and healthy part of life … and I hit that button more than you might think. And not just in life, but also with business.

CeeLo Gets Me

BUT FIRST … MAY

Take a deep breath, grab a paper and pen. This exercise will give you some clarity, conviction and confidence to move forward in your business this month. If you are serious about creating a business and life you love (and I know you are!), this simple practice will help you taste success. Trust me.

I call it the G.P.S. Method📍 … a course of action that will help you arrive at your desired destination. Let’s not complicate things, life already does that for us. Got your pen and paper? Ok, let’s go.

G is for Goals. Without clear goals, you're adrift at sea (getting seasick). Define your business goals and write them down. They should be meaningful, specific, and measurable. I’d love for you to share them with me.

P is for Plans. You need a roadmap. Just like you wouldn't venture somewhere new without a map, create a simple business plan with your goals, mission, budget, and marketing strategy. If you need help with this, let me know.

S is for Systems. Choose the right tools for your journey so you stay the course. “I want to workout 3x each week” is a Goal. Joining a gym and having a workout buddy is a System. Whereas Goals are good for planning your progress, Systems are good for actually making progress. If you have a system, I’d be eager to hear about it.

Here’s an example that I wrote down:

  • Goal - Secure 500 Five Words In community members by 2026

  • Plan - Create value, awareness and pathways to membership via social media, content creation, courses, speaking and paid media

  • System - Leverage website, newsletter, mastermind group and referrals to attract and retain members

Whaddya think of that?

Sometimes, we need to revisit our goals and the life we want to create. My goal is for you to love both your life and your work. I'm here to support you in any way I can to make that happen. 🤗
