Why is it that I can so easily extend grace, as far as the eye can see, to others … but not to myself? Whether past mistakes, current projects or future opportunities, I see the gold in others, and the mold in myself. Ugh.

We creatives are hard on ourselves. Like, REALLY hard. We have a high bar when it comes to creativity and pleasing our customers or audience.

And there’s nothing wrong with that, just so as long as you can recognize and celebrate your gifts and abilities you generously share with the world. In other words, I’m giving you permission, freedom and marching orders to give yourself a pat on the back for showing up and doing the best you can with who you are and what you have.

I saw Andy Grammer perform “Love Myself” live on Saturday night, and I couldn’t help but think of all the creatives, entrepreneurs and business owners in my life who doubt themselves on a daily basis. I wish you could have been there with me, I woulda side-hugged you throughout the entire song, speaking words of affirmation over you.
