ITāS NOT THEMā¦ ITāS YOU š§
āWait, so we are supposed to compare? Please make it make sense.ā Ok, ok.
I was on the treadmill at my local gym last night, and a person stepped onto the treadmill to the left me and a person stepped onto the treadmill to the right of me ā¦ at the same time.
The person on my left began walking very slowly while reading a book.
The person on my right started running, and then went to full-on sprinting.
I literally found myself in the middle ā¦ I wasnāt walking, and I wasnāt sprinting. I was jogging.
I could easily compare myself to the person on my left and feel superior.
I could easily compare myself to the person on my right and feel inferior.
I chose neither.
Because the truth is, I donāt know the whole backstory to anyone elseās abilities or accomplishments in life or business.
For example, the person on the left may be recovering from a yearlong health struggle and merely walking is a monumental task compared to a year ago. Iām not sure.
The person on the right may have been training for years and is looking to qualify for the Boston Marathon this spring. Iām not sure.
HOW YOU DOINā?šŖ
And so, because Iām not always privy to what other people have been through or where theyāre heading, I donāt compare my journey to theirs.
I compare myself toā¦ me. #MirrorMirror
As a creator, this is a healthy practice heading into 2024. Detail your current business numbers and declare a few goals. In December of 2024, you can look back and evaluate how the year unfolded. You vs. You ā¦ You Do You.
A good number of you have already come a long way, and you should celebrate that!
