From a bird to an X.
That's all it took on Monday for holy hell to break loose.

I kind of liked the bird. Heck, I even started a business blog in 2013 called "leaderbird", playing off the 140 character limit, by publishing blog posts containing no more than 140 words. (still love that little birdie logo, tbh)

Readers could get in and get out. I had to write proficiently and concisely, not easy for someone like me. But, my subscribers liked the 140 word game.
Then Twitter changed the rules in 2017, doubling the characters to 280.
Jack Dorsey, then Twitter CEO, didn't seek my opinion or approval.
So, after four years, my unique practice of producing 140 word blog posts became obsolete in one fell swoop as that number no longer held any special meaning to me, nor anyone else.
I was now faced with a choice: become a Critic or a Creator
I could either piss and moan about what once was, or dream and build what could be.
The armchair quarterbacks and keyboard warriors came out in full force yesterday, filling social feeds with their disdain and contempt of the change from Twitter to X ... all from the safety and security of their couches.
Why would anyone want to be lumped in with that critical mass?
I chose to pivot by developing and launching my personal brand and blog centering around, well, me. (haha, the nerve!)
FURTHER, FARTHER … JUST NOT LOWER 📈
Twitter/X CEO Linda Yaccarino shared, "It’s an exceptionally rare thing – in life or in business – that you get a second chance to make another big impression. Twitter made one massive impression and changed the way we communicate. Now, X will go further, transforming the global town square."
Creators "go further", Critics "go lower".

President Theodore Roosevelt knew a thing or two about Critics and Creators:
“It is not the critic who counts; not the man who points out how the strong man stumbles, or where the doer of deeds could have done them better. The credit belongs to the man who is actually in the arena..." - Man in the Arena / 1910
Musk stepped into the arena. Many times. So did Jobs, Winfrey, Zuckerberg and a host of no-name entrepreneurs. While they might not always get it right, they are, at the very least, trying to create something new, something better.
May you and I reside in that camp from this day forward.
