NOT HATERS, JUST DOUBTERS 🤨
I’ve had plenty of ideas that caused people to either raise their eyebrows or chuckle just softly enough for me to hear. It’s ok. Not everyone is going to buy into what I’m selling.
The same will happen with you. But that shouldn’t stop you from finding out if your idea or business endeavor actually performs in the marketplace.
What I share below is something I put down on paper and published two years ago … and based on a few conversations I’ve had this past week with early stage entrepreneurs, I feel it bears repeating.
THAT’S JUST CRAZY TALK 😧
There’s something on your mind … but it shouldn’t stay there. Let me explain:
Doubters: “Your dance moves aren’t good enough to record, trust me.”
Doers: TikTok (Valued at $75 Billion)
Doubters: “People like trying things on, having the shopping experience.”
Doers: Amazon ($1.3 Trillion)
Doubters: “Wait, your goal is to enable people to live on other planets? LOL!”
Doers: SpaceX ($150 Billion)
Doubters: “Rent your couch to perfect strangers, are you nuts?”
Doers: Airbnb ($81 Billion)
Doubters: “A food delivery service? So, like bringing you pizza? Lame.”
Doers: DoorDash ($31 Billion)
Doubters: “Taxis have a monopoly; they ain’t goin anywhere.”
Doers: Uber ($90 Billion)
Doubters: “Who wants to take photos that disappear? So dumb.”
Doers: Snapchat ($15 Billion)
Doubters: “Ads are gonna kill that music app, nobody likes ads.”
Doers: Spotify ($67.5 Billion)
“It’s only crazy until it happens.”
Maybe this is the week your idea moves from mind to matter. From head to hand. From pondering to plan.
Your idea doesn’t need to be a unicorn such as those I cited above … but, it just might be! (I’m an anti-doubter, can ya tell?)
Maybe it’s a side hustle that nets an extra thousand dollars a month to help with college loans, paying down credit card debt or buying something you’ve had your eye on for years.
Perhaps it’s the idea that moves you from your mundane job to a life-giving undertaking.
Believe me … you are uniquely gifted. You have passions and abilities that I certainly don’t have, and I’m grateful for that.
Don’t waste time galvanizing public opinion. Don’t let the doubters get in your head.
Spend time formulating a plan and begin to execute on it. This week. Cmon.
