“WHY” ARE YOU DOING THIS? 🤔

We can get so wrapped up in the Who, What, When, Where & How of business, that if we’re not careful, we can lose our way. To guard against that, I take a WHY Inventory from time to time to remind myself the purpose of being a creator, entrepreneur and business owner. I encourage you to do the same.

5 REASONS WHY I STARTED MY OWN BUSINESS

These are in no particular order. And sometimes these reasons might shift around. But, each of these five is paramount to my “success” and joy of starting and operating my own business. It’ll be quick, here we go …

Call My Own Shots: I wanted to have a voice. I wanted to be responsible for things that didn’t go well, and maybe get a little credit if things did. It’s exciting and scary and I wouldn’t want it any other way.

Control My Schedule: “Nobody puts baby in a corner.” Nobody controls my day. Freedom trumps money for me, so having the ability and luxury of determining my daily schedule is of utmost importance.

Create My Ideal Workspace: You’ve heard me say it and post it, “My Deck is My Desk” … and though it literally is, it’s also just depicting the fact that I choose to do the work I love in an environment I enjoy. Sometimes it’s a coffeeshop, other times a co-working space. My surroundings matter.

Make My Own Money: I don’t want someone to hand me a check … I want to make my own deposit. On January 1st, most employees know how much they will earn in the coming year. That’s not a bad thing, it’s just not for me. I want the freedom and ability to make as much money as I desire, or as little as I need.

Pursue My Passion: I have big dreams and goals. And I don’t want to spend time making those come true on nights and weekends. I want my passion, my ambitions, to be front and center and woven into the very fabric of my everyday work-life.
